Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot
(French, 1796 1875)

Landscape with a Boy in a White Shirt
Inventory Number: 3K114
Oil on canvas.
21.5 x 8 inches (54.5 x 20.5 cm)
This type of composition followed the French 18th-century tradition wherein a wide vista was effortlessly combined with an intimacy of feeling typical of the Rococo. In these small, sunny panoramas, Corot found something directly in contrast to the mysterious, remote forest places that a significant portion of his painting is devoted to. A remarkable feature of this landscape is the artist's closeness to nature, the intimacy of feeling, so notable in the so-called lyrical landscapes.
Size can be commissioned smaller or larger.
Collection of the Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, Russia.
